Preserving Greeley’s Past: The Mission and Impact of Historic Greeley
July 2 @ 7:45 am - 10:00 am
$38.00 – $48.00
Please register to join us Wednesday morning July 2nd, 7:45 at the Academy of Natural Therapy (a treasured historic building) when member, Annette Jaehn, the Treasure for Historic Greeley will share her passion for preserving architectural structures and their heritage. We will discover what they bring to Greeley, Colorado!
Annette has been on the board for Historic Greeley for around 13 years. She has restored three local Greeley area homes. Add that to the incredible work she and her husband, Sean, have accomplished in restoring their historic S.A.S.H. Ranch home. Plus, they have traveled to Ireland; where she has restored one home and is starting on a second home in that beautiful Irish land that has become her beloved second home!
Historic Greeley is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating the architectural and cultural heritage of Greeley, Colorado. In her presentation, she will share a brief history of the organization, highlight some of its most impactful accomplishments successfully tackled and completed by these dedicated volunteers, and provide insight into the exciting projects currently underway.
From saving historic landmarks to advocating for thoughtful preservation, Historic Greeley continues to play a vital role in shaping the city’s future while honoring its past. Annette believes that far too many beautiful, historic buildings have been replaced with modern, sterile structures and that architecture is a true art form that deserves to be preserved. She’s here today to share the incredible work Historic Greeley is doing to ensure that Greeley’s past is not only remembered but also valued!
Three key points you will gain and take away following this informative Workshop are:
1. The Importance of Preservation – Annette hopes you will understand how Historic Greeley has played a crucial role in protecting the city’s historic architecture and the ‘why’ involved in preserving these structures that matters for community identity, education, and cultural continuity.
2. The Ongoing Impact – You’ll gain insight into how the organization’s current projects are not just about saving old buildings, but about fostering community pride, supporting sustainable development, and shaping Greeley’s future in meaningful ways.
3. You might Discover a Personal Passion to get involved and help! Annette can share opportunities.
Let’s get to Know our Speaker:
Annette Jaehn, Mile High Stucco-Co-owner & Volunteer Board Member & Treasure with Historic Greeley
Annette has been involved with Historic Greeley for over 12 years, which in her on words means:
“I’ve spent over a decade geeking-out over local brickwork and cornices. I’ve restored three historic homes locally and even took on one in Ireland—because apparently, I like my projects with a side of passport stamps.” …and now she is tackling her second home in Ireland!
Her husband, Sean and Annette have owned Mile High Stucco since 1998, where she is the accountant and estimator. When she’s not chasing down vintage doorknobs, she loves traveling, and turning her creative nature lose making stunning stained glass and lovely, unique jewelry; hanging out with their kids, and being bossed around by her precious French Bulldog (who was featured in her photo).
Outside of her preservation efforts, Annette is a long-time Greeley resident who has raised a dughter and son here. She also founded the former local roller derby team, the Slaughterhouse Derby Girls, yet another way of showing her community spirit and love for unique projects.
