Building with
Spirit

Laura Jones has called Greeley home for the past seven years. She came to Greeley to attend the University of Northern Colorado, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Though Greeley became her home as an adult, Laura’s life has been shaped by a global upbringing and a deep connection to service.

About Laura Jones

Laura was born in Okinawa, Japan, where her parents were stationed while teaching for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). Her mother is a special education teacher- specializing in moderate to severe needs, and her father taught history and economics.

Laura lived in Okinawa until age 10, when her family relocated to Germany. There, she attended Netzaberg Middle School and later graduated from Vilseck High School. Throughout her childhood, her family returned to Colorado every year, creating a lasting connection that would eventually bring her back to the state she has always considered home.

While attending UNC, Laura discovered her passion for nonprofit and community-based work. As part of an introductory human services course, she was required to complete volunteer hours and chose to volunteer with 60+ Ride. That experience became a defining moment—solidifying her desire to build a career centered on service, connection and community impact.

Laura went on to deepen her civic involvement by serving on boards and committees through the City of Greeley, including the Rodarte Community Center Advisory Board and the Youth Commission Board as an Ex Officio member. She also volunteered with several local organizations, including the Weld Food Bank and the Immigrant & Refugee Center of Northern Colorado through its Little Learners program. While these experiences broadened her understanding of community needs, Laura knew she wanted to work in nonprofit leadership and engagement—helping build systems, partnerships, and opportunities that empower people.

Two years ago, Laura joined Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity as the Volunteer Coordinator. In that role, her passion for relationship-building, education, and community engagement quickly became evident. Today, she serves as the Community Engagement Manager, where she continues to connect volunteers, partners and families in meaningful ways—helping build not just homes, but stronger, more connected communities.
