Intentional Marketing: Building Structure, Focus and Impact
Kristi Helzer
Join us and learn from these two amazing women – the benefits of structured Marketing for your Business. They will bring their vast experiences to share with us during their program on Wednesday, June 3rd from 7:45 – 10 a.m. at The Rush Event Center, 1112 40th St., Evans, CO 80620
Melissa Jensen, Centennial Area Health Education Center (cahec) & Susan McKenzie, Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy & C.A.S.A.
This Workshop presentation explores how organizations of all sizes – whether small businesses, large companies or nonprofits – can build more effective marketing by focusing on clarity, consistency, and structure rather than volume or complexity. It introduces a practical framework for strengthening marketing systems, including how to move from scattered efforts to a repeatable process of planning, creating, scheduling, measuring, and adjusting.
Three Key Points participants will take away from this presentation:
1 Knowing the importance of clearly defining a target audience and shaping messaging around their needs, rather than internal priorities.
2 How a strong branding and audience clarity – guide all marketing decisions, especially when working with limited budgets. For organizations operating on tight resources, the presentation emphasizes low-cost, high-impact strategies.
3 Attendees will leave with a straightforward checklist designed to help them assess and improve their current marketing approach, ensuring they can immediately apply the concepts in a practical, sustainable way.
Let’s get to know our Speakers, Melissa & Susan:
Melissa Jensen is the Executive Director of Centennial Health Education Center where she leads a team of five to build and support the healthcare workforce and improve health outcomes throughout northeastern Colorado.
After earning her marketing degree at UNC, Melissa launched her career as the marketing director of youth programs for President Reagan’s National Commission Against Drunk Driving. When that program ended, she launched her own marketing agency, Common $ense Marketing, where she worked various small businesses to conduct market research, create marketing plans, branding packages and marketing collateral.
Her heart kept calling her back to the nonprofit sector and she landed at the High Plains Library District Foundation as their director for five years focusing on fundraising. She was The Community Grief Center’s first paid executive director but left that position to care for her husband, Dane, who passed away in 2020.
Her working genius profile is “galvanizing inventor” as she loves brainstorming ideas (for business and for fun). Some of her recent ideas include the Be Mindful, It Matters mental health exhibit now traveling throughout the state, Compassionate Care Dementia Training and a Mental Health Awareness Month visual/performing arts gala – mark your calendars for May 6th, 2027!

It functions in $5 increments. At the end of the Workshop 1 business card is drawn and that person splits the pot with Life Stories. TY for your generosity.
