Rita will be joined by  one of the HPLD’s Digital Literacy & Adult Programming specialists, who has focused her service work in public libraries for more than 10 years.  She is passionate about the use of technology to better lives, and tempering that use with an informed approach to privacy in the age of Big Data.

When was the last time you used your public library? On November 6th we will tour the beautiful Riverside facility, meet their staff, learn about their business and outreach services and discover the FREE resources and information at your fingertips when using your High Plains Library District card.  You can check out books, puzzles, magazines, National Park passes, CD, DVDs, games, telescopes, laptops, wii hot spot units, training manuals and videos, music, blogs, DIY lessons, videos, and subscriptions to an array of subjects.  Plus, as a business woman you will learn about the wide range of business resources available.  in the stacks and the services you can access online through library services. You’ve all heard: Information is POWER!  Your library is the place to go to find answers to your questions. There are books addressing personal growth, leadership, time management, organizational skills, team building, and women’s health issues. These are all topics you all are asking to have speakers present. A trip to a local branch or member library and devoting a little research time and you could learn about the things you are wondering about![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

During this WORKshop you will learn…

Reference USA is a premier source of business and residential information with more than 40 million businesses, 150 million households across the U.S. and Canada, and 270 million consumers available for you to search. All their information is separated into ten databases that span businesses, white pages, and various other themes like healthcare and jobs.
  2. Lynda.com is an online learning platform that helps you learn about a variety of business fields, software that is used, advancing technology, and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals.
  3. Hoopla is a digital media service that offers tons of titles, which may include audiobooks, movies, ebooks, television shows, music albums, and comics depending on your library’s subscription.
  4. Overdrive has grown to provide one of the largest collections of digital media available, which you can borrow anytime using your library card. Rita grew up in eastern Colorado, one of 21 kids! She moved to Greeley to attend UNC and that is where she met her husband John.  They have four amazing kiddos;  Ryan (Steff), Kyle, Kole, & Paige.  They have lived in Greeley for 42 years.

Rita enjoys reading, sporting events, cross fit, and spending time with friends and family.
