Speakers: Anthea Carrasco – Chief Deputy District Attorney, Weld County DA’s Office
Krista Henery – Community Relations Director, Weld County DA’s Office will present
Sexual Exploitation of Children and Women in Northern Colorado

Thea and Krista will discuss issues surrounding the sexual exploitation of children and women right here in our own backyard in Northern Colorado. They will educate the group on warning signs to be on the lookout for and what you can do to help! As active business women, we cannot afford to hide our heads in the sand. We need to be advocates for change and help our peers, especially girls and young women! Being well informed is the first step to claiming Justice!

You will leave this workshop knowing:

  • Real information about the gravity of the problem in our community, and what the Weld County DA’s Office is doing to hold offenders accountable.
  • Human trafficking of juveniles in our community is at crisis proportion and the warning signs to be on the lookout for.
  • Colorado’s new law on sexting – what every parent and community member needs to know.

There is strength and courage in each of us, but those who have suffered injustice need others to help them battle back to regaining a healthy self concept. That could be you or me!

Meet Anthea “Thea” Carrasco and Krista Henery:

Anthea (Thea) Carrasco was born and raised in Greeley. She graduated from Greeley Central High School in 2000. She received her undergraduate degree from Colorado State University in 2004, and her law degree from the University of Colorado in 2009. Thea has been working at the Weld County District Attorney’s Office since 2010. She is a Chief Deputy District Attorney and supervises the office’s prosecution of sexual assault, child sexual assault, and child abuse cases, as well as juvenile prosecutions.
Thea is married with two adorable daughters and she enjoys spending as much time as possible with her husband, kids and extended family.

Krista Henery joined the Weld County District Attorney’s Office in December as the Community Relations Director.
Prior to joining the DA’s Office, she spent 10 years as a TV news reporter, anchor and producer in Indiana and Illinois where she covered everything from political, crime, education, and human-interest stories in her community. As a reporter, she was always intrigued and loved covering court cases when assigned to them.
Her new role at the DA’s Office is the perfect job for her! She’s excited to continue learning the roles of her new position, and is honored to be a part of an incredible team who serves the community and fights for justice every day.
