NorCoWIB is actively supporting the Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity’s WOMEN BUILD. We still need volunteers on the construction site: 1318 29th St. Rd., Greeley, CO 80631 to help us build a home for Susana, a very deserving, hard-working single Mom.

Figueroa Family
The Women Build Partner Family is the Figueroa Family. Susana Figueroa is a single parent with 5 children, Natalie, David, Dalia, Yanise and Kamyla. The family currently lives in a 2 bedroom apartment. They make do with the small space by moving around to various parts of the apartment at night so they can sleep. Susana works at JBS and left briefly to work at Otterbox as a temporary employee hoping to obtain a permanent status. But since the permanent status did not look like it would happen she returned to JBS for a more reliable term of employment. Her sacrifices to obtain a Habitat home are not lost on her children as they all help out to make her life a little easier as the older children help take care and watch their younger siblings.

For Susana owning a Habitat home means stability for her family. Her children will finally be part of a community, they can have their own space in this 5 bedroom house and her dream of owning a home will come true! We hope to be dedicating this home the last weekend in October! WE hope ALL who have helped will attend.
An overview of the Habitat for Humanity Women Build Model:
Since 1991, Women Build volunteers from all walks of life have come together to build stronger, safer communities. The Women Build is available to any woman who wants to learn how to build and construct a home and we invite you to join us, no experience is necessary! Volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals, and alongside other volunteers and future Habitat homeowners. Whether you are learning new skills or simply adding a few more to your tool belt, this is a worthwhile experience for everyone involved, and you can help improve our community! We ask our volunteers to raise $100 to donate toward the $100,000 it takes to build this home. We encourage you to assemble teams of 10 = $1,000/TEAM. The construction days are from 8 a.m. – 2 or 3 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Please register at:
https://www.greeleyhabitat.org/buildregistration/2018-women-build

If you cannot manage the $100 donation, just donate what you can. There are folks out there in this generous community who will donate to underwrite your participation. The Build is 90% women – but men are welcome too. We simply ask them to wear pink while volunteering on the job site. Volunteers must be 16 years and older.

Habitat for Humanity’s National Women Build Week is an annual weeklong event created by Habitat’s Women Build program in partnership with Lowe’sThe program invites women to devote at least one day to help families build strength, stability, and independence through housing. The week is meant to spotlight the homeownership challenges faced by women.

Locally, in Greeley to date, we have 24 Women Build teams…..and counting. If you are not on a team but want to help, please contact Cheri Witt Brown, E.D. HfH at: 970-351-6766 x 102 ~ Office 970-250-5196 ~ Cell or  or Kristi, 970-506-1882 (h) or 970-381-8905 (c) know. We have teams that are not full and they would love your participation. Our own Jean Daviet is our WOMEN BUILD foundation sponsor. She will match our donations up to $20K all going towards the construction costs of building this Women Build Home. We simply would not be able to provide this opportunity to this family without your support! Imagine the fabulous networking you can do while working with 20 others for 7 hours. YOUR community caring and leadership support is driving this project. We were successful a decade ago when we accomplished our first WOMEN BUILD, and I know we will be again!  Thank you ALL! Please keep spreading the word and offering this opportunity to friends in your circles. Seeing what we BUILD together – will touch you deeply, and getting to work with this family and getting to know them will be yet another blessing!
