WORKshop Details
The Poudre Learning Center (PLC) is a premier facility for interdisciplinary learning that focuses on the importance of history, science, economics, stewardship, and aesthetics of the Cache la Poudre River in Northeastern Colorado.
They serve many school districts in the surrounding Weld County area.
Come learn how they strive to meet their mission while enriching the lives and knowledge of local youth. YOU will also discover a variety of ways YOU can get involved!

Ivonne Morales, Secondary Specialist
Ivonne Morales was born and raised in Greeley and graduated with degrees in Environmental Studies and Sociology from CU Boulder in 2017.
She first got involved with the PLC as a student in high school through the Field Experiences and Caring for Our Watersheds programs. When Ivonne won 2nd place in the Caring for Our Watersheds contest she was inspired to go into local environmental work.
Ivonne started at the PLC as an intern in 2017 and now helps run the Well Watch and Caring for Our Watershed programs. She is a delight to work along side of whether you are an adult volunteer or one of her students!

Jackie Jeambey, Curriculum Specialist
Jackie Jeambey is originally from the Chicago area.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Science Education from Miami University in Ohio. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in STEM Education.
Jackie loves sharing the wonders of the outdoors with children of all ages, and spending time with her dog, Tater. Jackie leads all the PLC K-12 educational programs. She has tons of positive energy, which makes her a terrific role model for all the youth she works with to encourage their love of being outdoors!

The Poudre Learning Center is experiencing growth and several members of their long-time team retired this past year. Ivonne had the pleasure to work with many of the past staff and benefit from their experience. Now she is able to mentor the next group coming on Board to embrace their mission.
Her passion for all things water is evident in her teaching.
She is very passionate about helping others to learn and become more aware of the challenges nature is facing.

Do you know the history behind our city gaining the rights to the water you consume?
What key role does an animal play in the city we live in?
